As and artist, sometimes I have to listen to what my hands are saying on the canvas and as I describe below my hands were talking big. I’m so glad they were because (I don’t mind saying) this painting is drop dead gorgeous. Unapologetic and full of energy, “speak up” brings her voice to the room and she’s all encouragement and building up, looking to the light. No matter the shadows because light breaks through

I just had the urge to paint big, to stand on my feet and extend my limbs for more expressive brush strokes. Most of the Spring ‘22 florals up to this point had been significantly smaller. I had just trashed a couple canvas’s after over-working them because the flowers were just too big for their canvas. I decided to let my creative urges take over and get those bigger brush strokes out on canvas, just trusting the process
