30×30
Mixed media on canvas with gold metal frame.
Hidden Script: No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else.
All artists go through phases during their career we call imposter syndrome. I’ve been in it long enough to know even some of the most seasoned and experienced artists experience this from time to time. Putting our art out there is so personal, we can’t help but get in our own heads about it and talk ourselves into believing we’re imposters.
When I painted this piece, I was right in the middle of it. So I let go of expectations, grabbed a canvas and focused on getting un-stuck and out of my own head. No thoughts or plans of a collection or a show, just playing with paint, colors and textures.
I decided I liked where it was going and the freedom of just creating so I grabbed a neutral to anchor the chaos and added my typical touches of gold and pieces of collage detail. I ended up loving the outcome and took a chance on sharing it.
