Fortress

“Fortress” is a mixed media painting with collage elements using faux gold nuggets and dried paint skins peeled from the painters palette. The leftovers from previous works become the unexpected detail in current work. I love it because it’s unique, it’s interesting, it adds texture and (excuse me while I nerd out for a second) it eliminates waste by re-using those paint skins. It’s my favorite collage element.

In order to permanently keep the gold nuggets in place this painting is sealed with glossy resin. It’s adds the perfect sheen and makes the vibrant colors pop!
