Bigger painting surfaces allow for a bit more movement and expression and the process becomes more involved as I build up the layers and textures. It’s typically a longer process that I become more involved and invested in. Painting intuitively and energetically this way allows me to have fun with different tools and shapes and to get into a headspace that allows me to work through and process all that life presents. Although sometimes it’s not about processing heavy stuff and instead getting lost in the joyful process of pushing paint, rolling ink, adding in splatters and patterns and immersing in the process. It’s my version of making a joyful noise (since I can’t sing).
